Abstract

The decline in global coal prices has driven PT Bukit Asam Tbk to improve operational cost efficiency, particularly in the Coal Handling & Transportation division, where fuel consumption accounts for 30–40% of the production cost. Based on the analysis results, the use of fuel exceeding the sampling test standards has become one of the issues to be controlled. This excessive fuel usage is caused by monitoring not being conducted in real-time, fuel restrictions not yet using a fuel burn approach, and the potential for misuse. To address these issues, PTBA developed a digital application called Energenius-Fuel, an integrated Fuel Management System designed to monitor fuel distribution and consumption automatically through barcode scanning and a real-time dashboard. The system was developed through eight agile sprints, from initial design to full implementation across all work units. The implementation results showed a 15% reduction in average fuel ratio, 46% decrease in units with fuel consumption above the standard, and annual fuel cost savings of approximately IDR 1.8 billion. Furthermore, CO₂ emissions were reduced by 188,585.99 kg per year. This innovation has proven to enhance transparency, accuracy, and energy efficiency, while supporting PTBA’s vision to become a world-class energy company committed to sustainability.
